Online Career Fair

Hello! I'm Jenny Nguyen, a junior from Santa Teresa High School. For my whole life, I wanted my actions to be able to reach people, no matter how big or how small. But I was incredibly shy and unpassionate about my future. That was until I became an advocacy and policy intern in the summer. There, I learned about public health, policies, and advocacy. To be honest, I really felt like I was part of the world and that I could grow even more - I felt that I had the ability to reach people. Ever since then, I've been chasing that feeling. I want everything that I pursue to give me that feeling, otherwise, it felt pointless. Throughout my internship, I created a youth census engagement study and wrote a report on it, which I was able to present in front of people that I worked with and the county census office. Since then, I take part in event-planning and publications for my school's volunteer clubs. Now I serve as founder and president for my school's mental wellness council (we had a wellness fair that was unfortunately canceled due to school closures) and for my school's GSA. It's been an amazing experience - I even went to my very first concert with my GSA!

Some facts about me:

  • I love watching anime (my favorites are Banana Fish and Demon Slayer, I'm currently watching Kakushigoto and Yesterday Wo Uttate)!
  • The shelter in has inspired me to start baking and making foods. I just made a salsa recipe that I am happy with and I'm trying to make the *perfect* sugar cookie :)
  • My favorite show to binge-watch is Miraculous Ladybug!
  • My favorite album is Fuzzy Brain by Dayglow (literal perfection)!

I found out about SRI through an Instagram ad. I was super excited to join because the organization not only wanted to tackle health concerns from COVID-19 but also the education concerns as well, which was something that I had always felt was an issue that gets overlooked often. I joined SRI as an int/ext communications unit leader for the Career Fair project. I am super glad I was put in this project because the point of this project is the help students who didn't get opportunities to explore careers and their interests because of the shelter-in-place.

Now that you have made it this far, you can support me and the career project by giving a donation to our project or SRI in general. Every project group in SRI has amazing things coming up and have worked so hard. Your support would help our project specifically by letting us purchase applications in order to make our website or flyers more presentable and appealing, or it can also help us reach out to more people through paying for ad services. Thank you for all your help and support!

To donate on behalf of a member, please include their name in the note section of the donation. Thank you!

Thank You!

Sincerely,

Jenny
